Z. has something. What it is I can't be sure of. She crawled into my bed in the early hours of Friday morning, and was very hot to the touch. The ear thermometer read 103. So I found some kids ibuprofen and some water and cuddled her till morning. The next day she was very lethargic. Spent most of the day sleeping or cuddled up on the couch. She cough every once in a while but nothing that would have prompted me to give her any cough syrup.
We cancelled lots of plans, and I ran out and got supplies since I feared the worst. Saturday morning, she wakes up bright and bushy tailed but still feverish. Her temps when not medicated bounce around 102 to 103. But generally she can play and run around happily. It was with a sad heart that I told her I we weren't letting go out an trick or treat. The night was cold and windy and I didn't want to run any chances with her.
Thankfully a family from had come by earlier with Trick or Treat bags for each of the girls, so she was pretty easy to reconcile with the idea of staying home.
She kept track of how many ToTers we had while A. and I made the rounds. I had a lot of fun walking the neighborhood, so many pleasant old ladies and older couples who showered A with compliments on her beautiful non-scary costume. I got a chance to introduce myself to many neighbors that I had never run into before. Such a nice experience.
We then stayed home on Sunday (Zee and I). Again, she was cheerful and upbeat, coughing only occasionally and still running the fever, although after doing some reading I decided to let it be, and not give her the ibuprofen unless I saw her getting run down or red cheeked, since she was doing such a good job drinking lots of fluids and popsicles.
This morning was more of the same. Cheerful but feverish. But it has been 4 days, so I called the Ped. I just got called back (only took 3 hours), and they do want to look at her. And since I called she has started coughing more regularly. She goes in the afternoon. No quite sure what they can do for her other than suggesting she keep drinking the fluids, and resting.
So just as I was ready to consider this some weird fever bug, it might just be the H1N1 after all. The school nurse certainly thinks so, lots of kids are out at RCS this morning.
So that is our Flu or not update!
